Darrell Salomon is a fourth generation Californian who traces his ancestry on his mother’s side to H.J. Pool, who came with his family from Kentucky to California in a covered wagon in 1848, becoming one of Sonoma County’s first County Commissioners. His son, Charles Pool, was elected Auditor of Sonoma County many times.

Mr. Salomon’s great grandfather, on his father’s side, was a rabbi in Bucharest, Romania. His grandfather, Morris Salomon, was the owner of a printing company with plants in Oakland and Los Angeles. His father, Joe Salomon, who recently died at the age of 95, was an independent film producer in Hollywood.

Mr. Salomon attended Bellarmine Prep in San Jose, Georgetown University in Washington D.C., and U.S.F. college and School of Law in San Francisco. He began his practice for ten years as an associate and later as a non–equity partner of Joseph L. Alioto in San Francisco, trying price fixing cases on behalf of consumers against corporate defendants. He later became an equity partner in the 300 lawyer national law firm of Arter & Hadden, and for 10 years headed the firm’s west coast consumer anti–trust practice. He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Consumer Attorneys of California, and since 1980 has been rated “AV” by Martindale Hubbell, the peer review rank indicating the highest level of skill and integrity in an attorney’s practice areas.

Mr. Salomon came to Brayton Purcell in 2006. He emphasizes pre–trial discovery work in asbestos, toxic tort and insurance litigation, and coordinates the firm’s deposition practice against corporate entities.

Mr. Salomon has served as Lecturer in Law at the University of Santa Clara, as Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate School of Law, and as a member of the faculty of the College of Advocacy, Hastings College of Law. He has written numerous law review articles and has lectured widely on the subject of civil litigation trials. He has served as a consultant for Matthew Bender & Company’s publication “California Business Litigation Jury Instructions.”

Mr. Salomon is a member of the Society of California Pioneers, a member of the Board of the Peninsula Coalition, a former Chief Assistant District Attorney of San Francisco, a former member of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, a former two–term member and President of the San Francisco Civil Service Commission, a former trustee of the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Marin Symphony Association.

Mr. Salomon’s hobbies are water color painting and private flying. He lives in Marin County, California with his wife and daughter.
