Frank J. Anders

Frank Anders joined Brayton Purcell in October 2006 as an admiralty and longshore attorney, specializing in filing claims on behalf of longshoremen under the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act.
Mr. Anders was raised in Danbury, Connecticut and graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina as a Political Science Honor Graduate. After graduation, he accepted a commission as a Naval Officer, serving for five years on active duty, including duty on the U.S.S. Doyle (FFG–39) and U.S.S. Spruance (DD–963). After leaving active duty in 2000, Mr. Anders served in the U.S. Navy Reserve until November 2004.
Mr. Anders graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in May 2003. While in law school, he served as staff member of the Maritime Law Journal and was its Literary Editor in Fall, 2002. Mr. Anders was the Fifth Place Oral Advocate in the John Brown Advanced Admiralty Moot Court Competition, New Orleans, Louisiana. He authored, OPA90 — Is United States Government Sole–Fault Negligence, Gross Negligence, or Willful Misconduct a Defense Against Responsible Party Liability?, 15 U.S.F. Mar. LJ. 223 (2002–2003).
Licensed to practice law in the State of California and in the United States District Court, Northern District of California, Mr. Anders is an active member of the Pacific Admiralty Seminar Steering Committee. He is also a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, State Bar of California (Litigation Section), American Bar Association (Litigation Section and Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law), Bar Association of San Francisco, and the Contra Costa Bar Association.
