Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) Discusses and Compares Its Viewpoints
SACRAMENTO, CA -- May 5, 2006 -- In an article entitled Side by Side, Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) explains its views on tort law, product safety, nursing home abuse law, and medical malpractice, and compares its analysis with the claims made by other groups. CAOC is an organization of more than 3,000 attorneys representing consumers and small businesses. It fights polluters, big tobacco companies, auto manufacturers who se ll unsafe cars, and insurance companies who unfairly deny claims. In the workplace, CAOC represents people who have suffered discrimination because of race, gender, sexual orientation or age.
CAOC seeks to hold wrongdoers accountable for injuries caused by dangerous products and below-standard health care. About 6,000 deaths a year are prevented because of the deterrent effect of product liability laws, according to the CAOC paper. The paper also provides statistics about elder abuse law and medical malpractice.
Gilbert L. Purcell, the senior trial partner at Brayton Purcell, serves as a CAOC board member. As a Benefactor Member of the CAOC's President Club, Brayton Purcell supports the organization's work and principles.
