Brayton Purcell Co-Hosted Asbestos Litigation Conference
BEVERLY HILLS, CA -- March 14, 2007 -- Brayton Purcell, together with Chicago's Butler, Rubin, Saltarelli & Boyd, co-chaired the Harris Martin Asbestos Litigation Conference held on the first two days of this month at the wonderful Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. The conference had record attendance by attorneys, both plaintiff and defendant, adjusters, in-house counsel and judges from around the country. Topics addressed by the 18 speakers included: joint compound cases, medical updates on colon cancer and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cases, automotive/friction product cases, mass tort ethical issues, consumer product asbestos cases, workplace simulation videos, so-called "low dose" cases, product identification, and pump, valve and other equipment cases.
The conference ended with Brayton Purcell partner, Gil Purcell, and trial behavior consultant, Sarah Murray, presenting new insights into jury selection, jury trial instructions, effective use of voir dire and a discussion about useful verdict forms in asbestos trials.
The conference was a huge success. "The Harris Martin people are just great to work with, as was Patrick Lamb, my co-chair from Chicago," said Gil Purcell. "I think everyone who attended learned something new and useful, and that is the mark in my view of a successful conference. We look forward to doing it again as part of an ongoing effort to stay on top of asbestos litigation and trials around the country."
