Chinese Drywall Class Action Lawsuit Information

Deadline For Knauf Chinese Drywall Class Action Set for December 9, 2009

December 4, 2009 -- For homeowners with drywall imported from China, there is an opportunity to join a class action against Knauf Plasterboard (Tianjin), one of the manufacturers of the sulfur contaminated Chinese drywall. The deadline for filing to join the class action is December 9, 2009. The class action bypasses expensive procedures for plaintiffs that are normally associated with service on a foreign company.

Knauf Plasterboard (Tianjin) (KPT), a subsidy of German company Knauf Gips AG, allegedly imported much of the contaminated drywall into the U.S. between 2004 and 2006. KPT has agreed to temporarily waive their rights to have the lawsuits served through the Hague Convention, giving potential plaintiffs a short window to submit their claims to the class action. Judge Fallon of the Eastern District Court of Louisiana has stated that the court will not grant any extensions nor amend the class action complaint to add claimants at a later date.
