Brayton Purcell's Andie Kottinger Wins Best Desert
The competition was fierce and the outcomes surprising Saturday, at the first annual Loving Spoonfuls: Marin's Soup and Dessert Challenge, a fund raiser for Community Institute for Psychotherapy. Fourteen restaurants and two corporate participants vied to offer their best, much to the delight of attendees, who sampled and cast their votes in the People's Choice awards.
The biggest surprises came in the two dessert categories, for which Brayton Purcell, LLP employee Andie Kottinger's creation, Law-Fully Delicious Pecan Pumpkin Cheesecake, received the award for Best Dessert from the culinary professional judges. Capturing the People's Choice Award for Best Dessert were the delightful Chocolate, Spinach and Blueberry Mini Cupcakes from CooperCakes, Lisa Cooper chef.
In the soup category, expert judges awarded Best Soup to Vin Antico for their Wild Mushroom Bisque with Salsify & Truffle Oil, and Third Place to Sabor of Spain for their Agnos D'Amore soup. Toast of Mill Valley and Novato was a double winner with their Chilled Curried Coconut Carrot Soup with Fresh Shrimp Relish, garnering Second Place from the professionals as well as the People's Choice Award for Best Soup.
CIP Executive and Clinical Director Robin Joy Berenson, PhD, MFT, was delighted. "Such a fun community event, with people of all ages raving about the wonderful soups and desserts, and how difficult it was to choose their favorites. The food was superb, thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable chefs, who seemed to enjoy the afternoon as much as the rest of us. Many thanks go out to participants, sponsors, and all those who attended."
