Current Openings

  • Investigator
    • Experience in a plaintiff's law firm and an interest in asbestos cases desired. Will be responsible for large case load, thus organization is a must. Duties will include interviewing potential new clients, locating and interviewing witnesses who may be difficult to find, preparing detailed and organized summaries of interviews for legal staff, reviewing documents and depositions, searching for businesses.

      Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Journalism degree ideal. This position requires excellent communication skills (verbal and written), advanced people locating skills, superior research abilities, the ability to perform in-depth interviews about subject matters that include construction trades, ships, corporations and asbestos products, excellent computer skills and the ability to type at least 40 wpm. Interest and knowledge of asbestos, history, journalism and construction trades are a plus.

  • Intake Coordinator
    • Provides administrative support to Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Manager, supervisor and department paralegal's. Reviews all cases for filing eligibility. Works closely with the department managing attorney and clients from intake to filing. As the employee gains experience the role may change and broaden depending on skills and needs.

      Bachelor's degree preferred. Must have minimum of 1 year office experience. Proficient use and understanding of computer software programs including WordPerfect, MS Excel, Word, and use of database applications.

  • Associate Attorney
    • The associate attorney represents plaintiffs in primarily asbestos personal injury and wrongful death actions, answers discovery, writes motions and oppositions, defends and takes depositions, manage cases from inception to pre-trial, advise clients, and appears at court hearings. Duties are expanded as appropriate as experience is gained. Opportunity to 2nd and 1st chair trials. Duties are required to be fulfilled within the office and/or as assigned at various appearances outside of the office.

      Qualified candidates should possess 1+ years of legal experience. An exceptionally strong work ethic, the ability to multitask, and excellent communication and analytical skills are required. Prior asbestos experience a plus. Trial experience a plus.

      Candidates must be admitted to the State Bar of California. Please DO NOT apply if you have not been admitted to the State Bar of California.

  • EH & Settlement Admin
    • Responsible for keeping data updated including tasks completed, Evidentiary Docs, and contact notes.
      Performs research as needed.
      Contacts clients for health updates often handling very ill clients remaining sensitive to the client’s health and family situation.
      Creates various documents including authorizations and letters as needed for clients, following-up to ensure the return of these documents.
      Ensures the necessary records are ordered and arrive quickly for each case. These include medical records and medical bills, film and pathology reports, as well as employment information such as Social Security, military, and other work related documents.
      Completes service checking against the service review.
      Checks Occupational History, MPID, co-worker data, and defendant’s reconcile, submits for changes and updates checklist items.
      Responsible for scanning and uploading documents to Groupwise.

      Sets up files consisting of lists of work sites specific to each Defendant, including exposure information, medical information, and other documents/information in the files as determined.
      Responds to requests from Defense Counsel for medical records, exposure information, and deposition testimony throughout the negotiation process.
      Bachelor’s degree preferred.
      Minimum one year of office experience/prefer prior law firm experience.
      Ability to quickly learn various programs, procedures and policies. Has attention to detail. Ability to multi task and meet multiple deadlines. Possesses professionalism when interacting with others. Maintains client confidentiality. Excellent computer skills in WordPerfect, Excel, Word, PDF and other programs. Typing speed of 45 WPM.
