Brayton Purcell Employees Earn Golden Sneaker Award at Marin Human Race
June 23, 2008 — Brayton Purcell would like to congratulate its employees for their spirited participation in the Marin Human Race, the county’s largest collaborative community fund-raiser. Brayton Purcell’s team, the Marin Human Race Runners, were presented with the Golden Sneaker Award. This trophy is given to the team that raises the most donations per runner for non-profit organizations in Marin County. The team’s enthusiasm and commitment is a great example of how we can all give back to the community.
The Marin Human Race Runners set off to join more than 3,000 people for a 5K run/walk/roll benefitting local non-profit agencies and schools. Each employee who participated in the race chose a specific organization to run for, such as the Marin AIDS Project, Novato Human Needs Center, Quality Care for Kids, Casa Allegra and Catholic Charities (Catholic Youth Organization).
The Marin Human Race has been a unique and wonderful experience for those who participated. During and after the race, festivities at the Marin Civic Center Fairgrounds included sponsor and nonprofit agency booths, snacks, music, and lots of fun activities for all ages. Brayton Purcell had their own booth at the Fairground, where team members enjoyed talking to people and passing out Nerf footballs.
They hope you will consider joining them next May to support local non-profit organizations!
Brayton Purcell’s Employees’ Positive Thoughts on the Race
“This is my second year of participating in the Marin Human Race. The positive energy, camaraderie and the opportunity to raise money for a non-profit organization of my choice will make this a permanent annual event in my life. The drive to stay healthy and to beat my previous year’s time is also a motivator! I hope more people will consider joining our team next year to support a good cause!” – Jennifer Harwood
“Working at the Marin Human Race was a rewarding and fun experience. I’ll definitely volunteer again next year!” – Melissa King-Kalter
“It was great to see the amount of people who participated in the event–from the runner/walkers to the abundance of non-profit agencies being supported. This was my first year participating in this event as a walker, however next year I definitely will be running in it. Look out Lynn….here I come. This is an event that I plan on being a part of for years to come and I encourage others to join us as well.” – Andrea Hereford
“This was my first year participating in the Marin Human Race, and I think I will definitely do it again next year. I raised money for the Marin AIDS Project and ended up running the race in 32 minutes. The starting line was a little intimidating, but by the time I got to the end, it was all worth it.” – Samantha Higgins
