Victims of Asbestos Exposure Deserve Justice

If you have never been exposed to asbestos, you should be thankful. Microscopic fibers that have the ability to plant themselves within your respiratory system and slowly suffocate your lungs have not found their way into your body. You have every chance of living out a long, healthy life with your friends and family. But what about those who have suffered through the effects of exposure?

Whether it is asbestosis, mesothelioma, or another asbestos-related disease, exposure victims’ lives are dramatically altered after diagnosis. Daily regimens must change; serious medications need to be taken, and worst of all, life expectancy can drop dramatically (the average mesothelioma patient is given 1-2 years to live after diagnosis). If not exposed to asbestos, these people would live the long, healthy life of a non-exposed individual just like you.

For decades, juries around the United States have ruled in favor of victims with asbestos-related diseases. Judges even ordered asbestos companies to set aside billions of dollars for the claims expected to arise across the country. After all, asbestos companies knew about the dangers of exposure while allowing workers to handle their products.

Recently, some plaintiffs and the lawyers that represent them have undergone scrutiny for seeking the justice they deserve. It might make you wonder: if so many American citizens were not carelessly exposed, complex asbestos litigation might be non-existent. What do you think?
