Global Asbestos Awareness Week begins today, April 1, 2015. For the next seven days, Brayton Purcell LLP plans to spread awareness about this dangerous carcinogen. We, along with the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), aim to prevent more unnecessary exposure and illness by spreading the word of the dangers of the substance.
Awareness week will focus on three critical things:
- To ban the mining and use of asbestos in countries where it is
- To prevent asbestos exposure in homes and workplaces
- To increase workers’ safety who could be exposed by reinforcing existing laws and regulations, and ensure they wear the correct protective equipment and decontaminate effectively to prevent exposure
Whether you are a blue-collar worker in a high-risk trade, a stay-at-home mom, a student, or more, you are likely to come into contact with the substance at some point in your life. The substance is still legally used in America, and workers and their families fall victim to terrible, related diseases every day.
Join us on our blog, social media outlets, and beyond as we share seven facts over seven days. Having the right information at your side will help you stay safe while preventing exposure among your loved ones.
