EFH Asbestos Claims: Deadline Reminder

by Brayton Purcell LLP | Dec 11, 2015 | Occupational Asbestos Exposure

Have you filed your Energy Future Holdings Corp. asbestos claim, yet? If you have worked as an employee or contractor at one of the company’s power plants, or if you are the family member of a worker, you need to file your claim before the December 14th deadline. This applies to workers and their families, whether they have been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease or not.

As part of their bankruptcy restructuring plan, a bar on claims against EFH will be put into place after December 14th at 5:00pm EST. Manifested claims should be made for individuals who have been diagnosed with a disease, while unmanifested claims should be made if you believe it is even slightly possible to be diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease in the future.

Workers, contactors, and their family members are all at risk for having experienced asbestos exposure due to use of the substance within the company’s power plants. If you are one of these individuals and fail to file your claim by the deadline, you will lose your right to compensation now or in the future.

EFH has power plants known to contain asbestos in both the United States and overseas. View all the EFH plant listings:
