A Textbook Case Of Mesothelioma And Occupational Exposure

by Brayton Purcell LLP | Aug 12, 2016 | Mesothelioma

While everyone has their own unique story to tell, some stories sound remarkably similar to one another. That’s especially true when it comes to individuals with occupational illnesses like mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos, which has had a long history of industrial and construction uses in the United States. That’s why so many people who develop mesothelioma were exposed to asbestos at work. This recent lawsuit is a good example.

A Louisiana man recently sued his former employer after being diagnosed with mesothelioma earlier this year. According to the lawsuit, the man worked in a shipyard from 1970 through 1982, which means he would have been exposed to asbestos for more than a decade.

In April 2016, the damage of that long-term exposure became clear. He is now suing his former employer along with two insurance companies. He accuses the defendants of negligence and failure to warn workers of the dangers related to asbestos exposure.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, asbestosis or any similar condition, your story may be nearly identical to this one. But that doesn’t make it any less important. You and your family have a right to pursue compensation and to hold the responsible parties liable for your injuries.

At  Brayton Purcell, LLP, we are proud to fight for mesothelioma victims and their loved ones. To learn more about what we do and how we do it, please visit our mesothelioma website.
