Brayton Purcell LLP partner Gil Purcell and associate attorney Jennifer Alesio have been invited to speak at Perrin’s 8th Annual Cutting-Edge Issues in Asbestos Litigation Conference on March 6-7. This 1.5-day conference provides an opportunity for the leaders in asbestos and toxic tort litigation to come together and discuss new issues and trends on the topic.
Gil Purcell has been working on asbestos cases since 1986, and is widely regarded as the premiere asbestos trial lawyer. At this year’s conference he will be speaking on a panel about the role of DNA in asbestos litigation. The panel will also discuss new studies on the synergistic effects of asbestos and tobacco smoke in causing lung cancer. Evidence of Mr. Purcell’s knowledge on this topic lies in his recent case trial in which a Los Angeles jury rendered a verdict for a spouse of a former smoker who died of lung cancer.
Jennifer Alesio is a senior trial associate and Los Angeles managing attorney with Brayton Purcell LLP. She has served as lead trial counsel for plaintiffs in dozens of asbestos personal injury trials in California. Ms. Alesio will be speaking about the impact of the Kesner and Haver cases on take-home exposure. These two cases ask whether employers or landowners should be required to take precautions towards preventing secondary exposure to asbestos.
