Did you know that asbestos is all around us? Even though the United States has not produced asbestos products since the early 1980’s, naturally-occurring asbestos can still be found in a majority of states in America. Undisturbed, asbestos does not pose a risk to human health, but when the fibers are broken down they can cause terrible problems within the human respiratory system. Take a look at our latest infographic, which tracks asbestos sites, past mines, and processing plants that have been closed in the United States.

The first evidence of naturally-occurring asbestos in Southern Nevada was found just a few months ago, sparking worry in the town’s surrounding the area.
