When watching prescription drug commercials on television, have you ever heard the narrator quickly zipping through a list of dangerous side effects? In some cases, for pregnant women, these side effects can include birth defects.

Our attorneys are currently reviewing the cases of those who have given birth to babies with birth defects after taking these medications during pregnancy:

Accutane: can cause malformations and other birth defects within infants. Taking the drug shortly before conception or during pregnancy has been known to cause ear malformations, serious facial abnormalities, and even death of the child. The drug has received a pregnancy rating of ‘X.”

Zofran: For most of those who experienced birth defects after use, the drug was prescribed within the first trimester of pregnancy. Possible Birth Defects Include:

  • Mental Problems
  • Abnormal Blood Pressure
  • Cardiac Defects
  • Physical Deformities
  • Stomach Problems
  • Cleft Lip & Palate
  • Club Foot
  • and more

If your child has experienced birth defects after you were prescribed one of the medications above, it is likely the drug’s fault. Contact us to find out how to hold those responsible for your child’s condition accountable for their actions.
