Fashion comes at a price. When shopping for clothing, most consumers do not think twice about whether or not a garment poses a risk to their life. As large retailers work to offer fashionable clothing at more affordable prices, these kinds of consumer thoughts are becoming normal. Consumers who recently purchased girls’ clothing at H&M might be interested to hear about the recent recall of 65,000 pairs of belted leggings due to a choking hazard. The leggings were sold in sizes 1 ½ to 8 years, and have a plastic belt with a bow-shaped buckle, and were sold at H&M stores from August 2012 to April 2014.One choking incident has been reported with use of the belted knit leggings. It is reported that a metal part from the belt can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Consumers should stop using the belt immediately, remove it from the leggings and contact H&M Customer Service for more instructions on exchanging the belt for a $20 gift card.
